Faith

Supporting faith that serves

Christian organisations have a long history of responding to the needs of the communities around them by creating places of welcome, supporting people through difficult times and building institutions that endure.

Gifting Faith is our programme for supporting that work.

We fund organisations and initiatives that strengthen Christian leadership, renew churches and help faith-based organisations serve their communities well.

We are interested in both established organisations with a strong record and newer ideas with the potential to develop. What matters to us is the quality of the people involved, a clear understanding of what they are trying to achieve and a credible route to getting there.
Our support can include:

  • developing and supporting leaders;
  • church planting and revitalisation;
  • strengthening organisations at important stages of their development;
  • employment, training and apprenticeship opportunities;
  • practical programmes serving local communities; and
  • testing new approaches where there is a good reason to believe they could work.

Whilst we do not expect every project to succeed exactly as planned. We do expect honesty about what is working, what is not and what is being learned.

Where possible, we want our funding to do more than meet a short-term cost. We look for opportunities when support can help an organisation become stronger, reach further or achieve something that might otherwise have been out of reach.

Futures

Backing potential

A good idea can come from anywhere. The opportunity to do something with it does not.

Granting Futures supports people facing barriers to employment, enterprise and economic opportunity.

Sometimes the missing ingredient is money. Sometimes it is experience, encouragement, a useful introduction or simply somebody willing to take an idea seriously.

We work with specialist partners who understand the people and communities they serve. We want to combine their experience with the resources we can bring.

Our work includes:

  • grants for young entrepreneurs;
  • mentorship and support for people starting and growing businesses;
  • routes into employment and skilled work;
  • apprenticeships and training;
  • support for social enterprises; and
  • investment in businesses capable of creating both economic and social value.

We are particularly interested in the point where relatively modest support can lead to a significant change in direction – helping someone move from an idea to a business, from unemployment to skilled work, or from an early-stage venture to something sustainable.

We also want to learn from the people we support. Good programmes should change as evidence and experience accumulate.
